I have to think that getting the job of second striker at Villa must kinda suck. I mean do they sit them down beforehand and warn them of what is going to happen?

Look, I know what Watkins brings to the game, his hold up play is excellent, we all know that. The simple fact of the matter is that he is just not scoring enough goals. It’s route one football, score more than the other team. If your main goal scorer isn’t firing, put someone in who is.
8 goals and 1 assist from 36 games is simply not good enough. He averages 1 goal involement per 4 games this season. Every single game we hope that this is the game where he starts firing and then at the 70-80th minute on comes someone who has actually been scoring goals, be it Malen earlier in the season or Tammy now. Now, i appreciate that Tammy’s goals have technically both been offside, but fuck me, he put the ball in the back of the net.
I desperately want to be wrong, for Watkins to knock in a couple of goals today, but he has done that twice this season. Scored two goals in a game then disappeared for another month. He can excel at all of his non-goal scoring abilities, but if they don’t then end up causing a goal scoring opportunity then what’s the point?
I just worry that today will be yet another game where we get to 70 minutes and have one shot on goal, probably not by Watkins and we are scrambling to try and win a game in the last 20 minutes.
Watkins, please score today and make me look a fool, score again next week too! But whatever you do, just bloody score!
