  1. Trips wanting him to share the goals. Gordon wanting to break records, particularly because he won the pen

  2. Missed it – anyone got a link to a video or something? Seemed to take over the thread and want to see what all the fuss was about

One of the other players told the skipper that it was Gordon who had nicked Trippiers PS5 Controller from his room……..🤣

  4. Trippier wanted the hook up to Gordon’s hair dresser. Gordon wouldn’t give Trippier the number.

Trippier completely put of line. Its the gaffers call, if you disagree with it talk to him

Even if you still have to, wait till the dressing room before discussing

  6. It looked like Willock was trying to get the ball for the 2nd pen and Gordon wasn’t having any of it. Think Tripps was saying he should have let him and I think Gordon responded by showing 4 fingers.

As an aside, True Geordie has posted an idiotic rant about this being the reason why Nick W wants away because he’s denied the pens from Gordon and Eddie is playing “our number 9” in centre midfield which apparently is hurting his career.

  7. Gordon is the penalty taker. I don’t care about the circumstances, he gets the pen.

If he wants to let someone else have it, then fine but some managers become livid when they’re designated penalty taker lets someone else take it- even at 4 or 5-0 up.

  8. The penalty taker should take the penalty. End of Story. Shearer said the same. If he’s the penalty taker he’s taking the penalty. Sharing the goals, it’s not a guaranteed goal and it’s not soccer aid.

  9. I can see both sides to be honest. Gordon is entitled to take it. Trippier as captain is entitled to ask him to give it to another player in the circumstances (assuming Howe hasn’t explicitly given instructions one way or another). But it should be done respectfully, Trippier shouldn’t be kicking off like that, it’s such a poor look for us

Side note why would Willock take it? Takers after Gordon would be Woltemade, Trippier, maybe Tonali I would say. I had originally assumed that they must have been asking him to give it to Woltemade

  10. I can see both sides of the argument. Personally I would have liked Gordon to give it to Wolte or even Elanga but I understand that he is the designated pen taker for us currently and he’s been rock solid this season in that regard.

The reason I can see Tripps point of view is because we were already winning 4-0 and Gordon had already scored a hattrick. If there was ever a time to do it, that was it.

What I will say is that this should have been handled in the dressing room after, and not on the pitch. That much is clear.

  11. Feel like it would be different in the second leg when we are definitely through. Not that we aren’t definitely through now but I don’t feel like it was worth risking

Trippier is the leader, he sets the tone

Again, no-one knows how this started so its all conjecture

  13. Trip suggested to Gordon, he let someone else take the penalty…

    People are split on…

He’s the PK taker, he takes it.

    Vs

Giving the PK to someone else, would be beneficial to the team.

  14. There wasn’t hate. Quite the opposite Tripps (and Willock?) wanting Nick to take the pen showed how much the team cared about each other in the first place.

Gordon takes the pens, end of. First Brit to score 4 in UCL with first British team? That an ‘and finally’ on the news and keeps the clubs name in the lights. Plus he has almost doubles his resell value!
