Never thought I’d agree with Cassano lol. Juventus fans have ZERO right to say anything about refereeing for the rest of their lives.

Former footballer Antonio Cassano, on the podcast *Viva el Futbol*, spoke about the controversy over Alessandro Bastoni’s simulation that led to Kalulu’s red card:

“Even Pavel Nedved, a Juventus icon, fell to the ground against me three times in a Juventus-Roma match, saying ‘it’s fair’ each time, and nobody made a fuss. Krasic trips over alone in Bologna, falls, and it goes unnoticed. I lost a Scudetto to Gigi Buffon, and he even said in an interview that even if he realized the ball was in, he wouldn’t have said anything.

To those giving Bastoni moral lessons—you should be ashamed. Fans online, politicians, and public figures are all spreading a biased narrative. Now Juventus is lecturing others? Stop. You’ve caused more problems than any hailstorm, and now you’re upset because of a simulation? A few years ago, Pjanic should have gone home to Santa Madonna! I lost a Scudetto to Buffon, Muntari scored from three meters, Krasic caused a disaster, and we don’t remember Ceccarini with Ronaldo… Stop pretending and be quiet. It’s disgusting that Juventus is giving moral lessons. All disasters were in favor of Juve, and now all Juventus fans are outraged. And what about all the millions in Italy who lost Scudetti like me?!

Or Chiellini, whom I love, what did he do? The first thing he did was go to the ground. Let’s stop bothering Bastoni and stop portraying him as a monster and a diver. I repeat, especially to people outside football. And those involved in football, before giving moral lessons, think about the disasters Juventus caused.”

  3. Diving is dirty, but can be justified if you are desperate for a win.

Celebrating because your dirty tactics worked is just another level of nasty.

  4. He always forgot that in the same game Matri’s goal was disallowed for a non existent offside.

But it’s cassano, you can’t pretend much logical argument from him.

I agree that spitting on Bastoni is useless. He’s a footballer and like half of his colleagues (and former colleagues, including Cassano) he’s a cheater piece of shit. There’s no point in moral lectures for these guys. Give them 5 games suspension and they’ll stop.

  6. JaguarWitty9693 on

No skin in this game but I 100% agree – yes it was cheating but there is absolutely fuck all Juve can say about it, they are some of the worst cheats in history 😂

  7. Foreign_Network1009 on

I don’t get why he says Juventini can’t complain about awful referees? Are we (or any decent fan) supposed be happy about games being decided by bad referees? Is he or anyone else entitled to decide how we should feel about it? Fuck him, and anyone that thinks like him tbh

BTW, me and surely a lot of other fans (juventini or not) would agree that every team will sometimes directly benefit from one of their players simulating and getting a favorable call, that’s something that is sadly part of the sport and hopefully some day they’ll find a way to make players stop doing it

But celebrating and being so proud of being a cheater while claiming to be the cleanest club in the league is where I draw the line, Bastoni should have just take the cheat and shut his damn mouth

  8. I mean Inter fans are still making fun of Busquets and his peek-a-boo. Why should Bastoni be any different?

  9. Lumpy_Reveal5547 on

He is right about everything. It’s also nice that a former player remembers to everyone what it was like to play against Chiellini.

Today, Bastoni will probably be the second player in the history of Italian football to apologize for a dive (the first was Barella), even though there are many other players who do it much more frequently. Just think about Theo Hernandez and Cuadrado in past years.

Now you can downvote all you want, but there’s no escaping the fact that this describes better than anything else how the environment around Italian football works. It’s the price to pay for not having just one rival like the other big clubs, but two. And when the goal is the same a third one joins in as well, whether it’s Napoli or Roma, this is what’s happening right now. If a dive had benefited the chasing teams instead of Inter, there wouldn’t have been even half of this uproar. After all, that’s more or less what happened in Napoli–Inter with Di Lorenzo.

  10. He’s functionally illiterate. He talks about things he doesn’t even know about. Anyone who only puts what’s convenient on the scales has the same credibility as the village idiot.

  11. Hand_Sanitizer3000 on

No one would give a shit about the simulations* had bastoni not celebrated like he did. And even in cases where other people dive n celebrate a penalty theres a difference between giving your teammates high fives and screaming right behind the guy and in the guys face

  12. They could start giving bans retroactively to everyone. I think Totti got a 3 match ban after he spit on Poulsen, something similar could be done for diving

  13. Fans are outraged with Bastoni celebrating, and that is not true sportsmanship

Juventus never said anything against Inter but refs and whole AIA, Marotta is the one that started talking about some stuff from 5 years ago and Chivu is the one that started talking about Kalulu

Cassano and idiots like this are the reason we are not addressing bigger issue in this league but arguing with each other, which is exactly what the leaders (AIA) of this league want

  14. What he really meant to say is: it’s Leao’s fault and he is overrated while im genius

    Dude sounds like kanye sometimes

  15. And like clockwork the media machine kicks into gear to destroy and denigrate anything Juve related. Calciopoli wouldn’t exist without it and any time anything happens against Juve and anyone dares speak up the usual “ah but juventini have nothing to say because 34 years ago my nonno told me lajuveruba.” Paese di frustrati che vi rovinate da soli.

All this contrasts severely with the magnificent performances in the olympics where the true nature of sport is honoured, calcio in comparison is a cesspit of parochialism and mafia.

  16. help-Me-Help_You on

I dont care talking about Inter, Juve, Marotta, Bastoni whoever I hope they start to punish diving, and stop giving soft fouls.

  17. Just wanted to let you Inter and anti-Juve guys notice that you have the same opinion of Cassano on this topic.

I mean, if this doesn’t raise a concern on the absurdity of your claims I don’t know what will.

  18. Because of all those things VAR, goal line technology etc were introduced. And now that we have all the instruments to make things right real time a matched is completely ruined and not only!!! After the images and the truth have been confirmed by everyone… Kalulu gets 1 day ban and Bastoni will be regularly on the pitch next Sunday. This is the outrage!! Like that referee in that World Cup that refused to look at the monitors while the stadium and whole world knew the truth. Bastoni’s behaviour is just average for Serie A. The cheering was tasteless… but that’s about it. So let’s go back to no VAR and this would be just another Sunday of polemics (which were the salt of the game if you ask me). But if we keep it… well this is just unacceptable
