Reports in Italy claim that Gennaro Gattuso will continue to rely on Inter star Alessandro Bastoni despite criticism over the defender’s behaviour during the Derby d’Italia against Juventus.
Inter defender Bastoni will continue to be part of the Italy squad, as coach Gattuso is not considering dropping him following controversies in Inter-Juventus.

He should refuse the call up. Let’s see what worldclass player they bring in. Maybe from Milan or Juventus? 🙂
Calafiori is injured btw.
Gattuso was a hard-ass player. He knows what it’s like and also wouldn’t bow down to pressure from whiners.
I’ve never seen a big fkng deal about someone diving before but now they want to kick him out the NT, threaten his wife and family.
Blame the player for diving. Blame the ref for giving the red card. Blame the ref committee or fgic for having var be useless when the purpose of it was supposed to help call fairer games and they do jack shit with it.
Like var gets involved for clear and obvious error but yeah let’s not use it when someone gets a second yellow even though it’s clear and obvious error is the dumbest fkng thing.
What a stupid suggestion that was in the first place.
All this media push against us and Bastoni … yeah he dived after a little contact and celebrated Rube going a man down … uncool yes, but literally **nothing** special or super extraordinary! It was a derby ffs! If this were the standard italy would probably have to start Serie B players soon.
Speaking of Serie B (and thus Rubentus): All this (media BS + like what feels like 20tsd posts on reddit (brigaded by Rube and BBilan fans)) is more indicative of them, than of what actually happened: a spoiled entitled fan base, used to getting such calls in their favor, being confronted with a big decision called against them for (if I may exaggerate a bit) probably the first time in their north-american / calabrese lives. Never have I seen such an BS uproar; tackles that must have been made just to break an opponents legs get less attention … a literally championship deciding ref error I remember from Germany got less uproar.
People need to get a grip. But that’s only if they are genuinely outraged … I think a significant part of this is just to put pressure on the ref’s, to not whistle anything ambiguous in our favor.
