      Another problem is the referee’s competence, which in my opinion is poor. A non-violent foul, in midfield, that doesn’t interrupt any attacking phase isn’t even remotely punishable by a yellow card.

      Ref is just the useful idiot in this case. He made a mistake, but in this system he’s set up to fail. It’s ridiculous that var, 4th official and assistant referees are either too coy or procedurally unable to prevent this from happening.
