The Athletic’s Paul Tenorio joins the show to talk about the incredible story developing in US Soccer as USMNT legend Claudio Reyna and his wife Danielle Reyna revealed extremely personal information to US Soccer about Gregg Berhalter and his wife in the aftermath of the former coach not playing their son, Gio Reyna, at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Paul, who has broken much of the news about this story, reveals all the latest details and what it means for the parties involved from the Reynas to the Berhalters to the rest of the US Men’s National team and US Soccer.

  1. I understand why everyone is upset at Gio's mom, but had Berhalter been properly vetted instead of his brother giving him the gig on a silver platter, then this private incident wouldn't have been weaponized.

Also, regardless of whether Berhalter kicking his wife happened three decades ago or 100 decades ago, the federation can't reward him with a contract renewal. Even though the federation says he's still under consideration, my guess is it's highly unlikely he's brought back. The federation will not stand for domestic violence.

    Berhalter is done.

  2. 31 years ago? College kids having a fight outside of a bar – were they both drunk? – who later get married, have four kids, and are still married AFAIK? Unbelievable. Amateur hour, but just another day in woke universe. Pele dies, and we get this soap opera? Pathetic. US soccer is completely without class.

  3. Claudio is the reason the USMNT got knocked out of a WC!! He should apologize any time he even talks to the media for his fuck up – fuck him!!! Now he can't handle his spoiled kid??

and I'm an Austin FC fan but what an elitist lil bitch!! mommy just couldn't handle her kid not playing b/c he isn't a professional – straight up, period. Claudio should condemn his wife for this — what a terrible look – all about suburban rich mommy's opinion or winning and respect?

  4. Reyna's mother should be embarrassed to even show her face in public. She's betrayed her son, Berhalter's wife, and totally contradicted her own husband's positive comments about the job Berhalter was doing. Totally unacceptable by Reyna's mother.

  5. Berhalter must go. His player selection was poor, favoring mediocre MLS players over more capable European based players. Most MLS players failed miserably during the WC including ones that were brought into the field ahead of Reyna. Berhalter also tends to let personal matters interfere with player selection. And finally he was schooled by the Dutch coach. Berhalter has no business continuing with USMNT. I much rather see Reyna continue than Berhalter.

  6. You know how 'Karen' became a thing? I think 'Danielle' should be the new name for a parent who goes full 'burn the world down' because her baby isn't getting playing time. (FWIW, Gio should have played way more in the WC, I'm team Gio here)
