Honestly, Safonov is objectively pretty middling in a lot of aspects (box control during set pieces, footwork, when to get out) and is only very good at shot stopping.
But he’s also full of confidence and believes in himself, even if I’m terrified each time he’s got the ball. And honestly that makes the difference with Chevalier. At times it felt like Chevalier was trying to show off that he’s better playing with his feet than Gigio was, instead of focusing on himself.
I don’t know if it’s the pressure or what, but I don’t think it’s really a question right now who should start for us.
Chevalier is frail and Safonov is performing, even if sometimes (like against Newcastle) I’m wondering wtf he’s doing.

Cheva-who?
That lay off from Dembele is just absurd.
