Aston Villa have conceded 26 goals from an xG against of 33.9, meaning they’ve conceded 7.9 goals fewer than expected.
Only Everton (8) have a better figure so far this term (27 conceded, 35 xGA).

Makes you wonder where we would be without the mistakes that have been made. We have joint third best defence in the league. Only two teams have conceded less than Villa, Arsenal & City. Also, Villa have conceded more goals from errors/mistakes than any other team in the league with 10… Yes TEN of our 26 conceded goals from Villa mistakes.
It’s kind of irritating tbh. ***IF*** we had started better we could be top of the league with room to spare. ***IF*** we made less mistakes we could also be top of the league. I really worry that this season is going to go down as the ‘missed opportunity’ season.
I know we are in with a great shot with Europa and we will be putting some emphasis on FA Cup too. But man, 25/26 is already Villa’s best chance to win a title since the very first Premier League season in ’92 when we came second. I fully understand that CL qualification is the priority and going for a title charge isn’t, but come the end of the season the woulda/coulda/shouldas may be very strong on this sub.
