Blandford Road was temporarily closed by Dorset Police after the two large vehicles collided at around 8.45am on Thursday, February 5.

The bus driver was cut free from one of the vehicles after firefighters used using hydraulic cutting equipment to free them.

The driver was then passed along into car of the ambulance service before being taken to Poole hospital.

A spokesperson for Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “We received a call at 8.48am this morning about a road traffic collision on Blandford Road, Wimborne Minster.

“Crews from Wimborne, Poole, Redhill and a Technical Rescue unit from Cosham (Hampshire & IoW FRS) attended the incident which involved two large heavy vehicles – a coach and an articulated lorry.

“Crews released one casualty using hydraulic cutting equipment before leaving them in the care of the ambulance service. Our stop was in at 9.17am.”

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust said: “We were called at 08:45hrs on Thursday 05 February to a road traffic collision in Wimborne.

“We sent two double-crewed land ambulances, an operations officer to the scene. We conveyed one patient by land ambulance to Poole Hospital.”
