Nathan Patterson’s future at Everton has been up in the air over the last month.
The Toffees have been in the market for a right-back to replace the Scottish international this winter window.
Everton have attempted to sign Genoa’s Brooke Norton-Cuffy over the last week, but that deal was unable to be agreed upon.
Patterson has been out of favour throughout most of this season, but due to injuries, he has been given a chance to prove his worth.
However, that did not stop the speculation over his future, and now an update as the deadline draws closer has emerged.

Everton have made a final decision on the future of Patterson; as for most of the window, it looked like he would leave the club.
Now, a new update in the dying hours of the winter transfer window has emerged, and it looks like the player is set to stay.
According to Sky Sports reporters Vinny O’Connor and Lyall Thomas, Patterson will not be leaving Everton.

The information shared by the journalists also states that the defender is happy to be staying and is willing to fight for his place in the team over the course of the season.
The Toffees have turned down approaches for the defender, with Genoa looking to bring the Scotsman to the Serie A.
A swap deal between Patterson and Norton-Cuffy could have made sense, but the Genoa man wanted to remain at the Italian club.
What role will Patterson play this season for Everton?
Patterson has been given a bigger role over the last few weeks due to injury issues and suspensions piling up at Hill Dickinson.
The Everton man has started in four of the last seven games in all competitions. He will now be hoping he can continue with his increase of minutes for the rest of the campaign.
Those opportunities have given him a little bit of momentum, but as the bodies returned back to Moyes’ side, he did drop back down to the bench against Brighton.
This could be a sign of things to come for the defender.
It is a World Cup year, and with Scotland qualified for the tournament, he will want to be as match-fit and in as good form as he can be for it.
Hopefully, he can be given a chance to continue to showcase his qualities, as it may be his last chance at saving his Everton career.
