The Heart and Stroll event, organised by cardiac charity Heartbeat, will be held at Southampton Common on Sunday, June 28.

It follows last year’s sold-out event, which saw more than 750 people take part.

Organisers say they expect this year’s turnout to double.

Tanya Harder, project lead for Heart and Stroll, said: “We’re incredibly excited to be bringing Heart and Stroll back to Southampton Common.

“Last year was a huge success, and with plans already in place for 2026, we’re determined to make this our biggest and most inclusive event yet.”

The 5km walk is designed to be accessible for all ages and abilities, promoting the message that even gentle movement can have a positive impact on heart health.

This year’s event is supported by sports and recreation brand GBHQ, founded by Jay Buckle.

GBHQ is assisting with event planning, promotion, and encouraging its fitness community to get involved.

Jay Buckle, founder of GBHQ, said: “Supporting local causes is at the heart of what GBHQ stands for.

“We’re genuinely excited to power Heart and Stroll and support Adam take on an epic challenge from Land’s End to John O’Groats, alongside the Three Peaks, to raise money for a cause that makes a real difference to people’s lives.”

Adam Blackwell, head coach at GBHQ, will embark on an endurance challenge in April.

He plans to cycle from Land’s End to John O’Groats while completing the Three Peaks Challenge along the route, aiming to raise £10,000 for Heartbeat.

Funds raised from Heart and Stroll will support the cardiac unit at University Hospital Southampton and Rotary Heartbeat House, which provides accommodation for families during treatment.

Ms Harder said that working with GBHQ has helped expand the event’s reach.

She said: “GBHQ’s ethos of inspiring people into movement – regardless of fitness level – aligns perfectly with what Heart and Stroll represents, and their support is helping us reach more people than ever before.”

Tickets are priced at £12.50 per adult, with children and dogs welcome to join for free.
