Hi everyone! Got the mods' blessing on this, so hope some of you might really find this useful.

TL;DR: myTeam is an app that is a better version of a club's official app – scores, news, transfer rumours, stats, highlights. It's in free beta now and I would love people to test it out and tell me what would make it worth using everyday

I got fed up of using 3 different, bloated things to follow my team: SofaScore/FotMob to check the score and match details, X and Reddit to follow transfer and injury news, BBC/The Athletic for club news. SofaScore is brill but costs £35/year to remove betting ads and "load faster" (yes, that's a real paid feature).

And most won't give you a quick way to see what channel the game is on, or injuries, or meaningful transfer rumours. I'm happy to keep using a dedicated scores app and Reddit to see what else is going on in football but what I wanted was…

An Actually Useful Club App

Everything about the club you might want to know. Open the app and you immediately get:

– Next fixture details, whether it's on TV, how many points to safety
– The latest headlines and transfer news (tap to read max 1 minute-long articles with 1 sentence summaries)
– Injuries and suspensions (tap to see details)
– Form (tap to see breakdown and trend)
– Competition status (tap to see next fixture)

There's also an X/Twitter feed that has club-related tweets from the tier 1 transfer journalists. So if Ornstein says JSL is actually going to Palace (he just did), you'll hear about it first either here or in the app.

If you enjoy the odd stat but aren't bothered about actually digging into them, there's player and team insights on every screen like the fact that Arokodare is one of the most aerially dominant forwards in Europe (top 8%) or that Wolves are actually the 3rd best tackling team in Europe. Plus there's player radars and team scatterplots so you can see how Mane compares to the league, or even across the top 5 leagues for his position.

It's not trying to replace The Athletic for journalism or FotMob for deep stats or coverage. myTeam is a quick experience for anyone who wants a single place for any question about the club and some useful extras without the usual messy hunting. And I respond to meaningful feedback: I've added new bits every day this week based on great requests: pre-match previews now show possible table positions, post-match screen has links to YouTube highlights.

My ask:

Just some of your time. I think some of you will actually find this app really useful, so I hope you'll give it a try. It's in free beta and I would love people to tell me what's missing and what would make it worth keeping.

Brutally honest feedback is welcome. Download: https://thisismy.team/beta/

Cheers!

  1. Not bad. The UI could use a bit of work, but in general pretty good. The pricing will be your biggest hurdle £99 a year is a lot for what it offers, but I understand you’re probably using a lot of apis to grab all this data.

I’m guessing this is probably using some AI to generate the text from some of the raw data too? Maybe removing that could lower the costs.
