This isn’t hindsight speaking, but on Thursday even playing like a bag of shit for an hour and 2 nil down, I still believed we were going to turn it on and win. (Kind of irrelevant as it wasn’t a league game). Haven’t felt such belief for about 90% of all my 35 odd years of supporting this great club.

Yeah this was from the Athletic, and the term they used was “game state monsters”
Basically yeah we might lose the xG battle when we’re winning, but since we don’t drop points from winning positions, it doesn’t matter.
When we are losing, we win the the xG battle, which is why we have won so many point points from losing positions
