Fabrizio Romano claims that Bundesliga club Hoffenheim is interested in a loan deal for Rory Wilson.
They aim to make the 20-year-old a permanent addition this summer.
The buy option clause for the Scot is estimated at €7m.
Romano added: “Understand Hoffenheim make an enquiry to sign Rory Wilson on loan deal with buy option clause from Aston Villa.
“Buy option clause would be set at €7m.”
Wilson left the Ibrox club for the Premier League side in 2022.
It is understood Villa paid £350,000 upfront and with add-ons, Rangers could bank £1 million.
They also included a 10 percent sell-on clause if Villa ever sold Wilson.
