David Moyes fears Jack Grealish may miss the rest of the season after picking up an injury at Everton.

There have been fears over the 30-year-old’s fitness after he suffered a stress fracture in his foot in the 1-0 win over Aston Villa in the Premier League on 18 January.

Moyes has now confirmed that Grealish likely needs surgery, which would rule him out for the foreseeable future.

The Manchester City loanee has been influential for the Merseyside outfit, with talk of a return to the England squad for the 2026 World Cup intensifying in recent months, but that may now be unlikely.

While Grealish’s injury is a blow for the Toffees, it surely doesn’t affect the England national team, Richard Keys says.

The beIN SPORTS football anchor doesn’t believe the English forward’s foot knock will have an impact on Thomas Tuchel’s plans for the 2026 World Cup.

With the Man City loanee missing out on the recent call-ups for the Three Lions, he may have never been in contention to be a part of the tournament being held in Canada, Mexico and the USA.

Writing on X on 30 January, Keys said, “Grealish has had a decent half-season at Everton — no more. His injury is a blow — to himself and the Toffees — but it is neither a blow to England nor his World Cup dreams. Headlines suggesting otherwise are daft. He was never going to the World Cup.”

Moyes has been trying to change Tuchel’s mind about Grealish, but the winger has now suffered a significant setback.

The chances of the English winger going to the 2026 World Cup were already slim, and it is surely impossible now, even if he gets fit before the tournament starts.

Thomas Tuchel has another England dilemma at Hill Dickinson Stadium

James Garner has been incredible under Moyes this season, playing multiple positions and excelling in each.

Jordan Pickford will surely be the number one for England after his continued success at Everton, and another player from the Hill Dickinson Stadium may join him.

Garner is competing with the likes of Declan Rice, Elliot Anderson, Adam Wharton and Jude Bellingham for a place in the Three Lions’ midfield.

Jarrad Branthwaite has also returned from injury, but whether he’ll finally get his England debut under Tuchel remains to be seen.
