Bristol City U18s were knocked out of the Premier League Cup at the quarter-final stage after a 3-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.
Goals from George Feeney, Reiss Elliott-Parris and Oliver Boast saw Spurs progress in the competition.
The Robins created chances, however struggled to find the back of the net.
The Under-18s next take on Swansea City in the Professional Development League on Saturday, January 31st.
Spurs took the first chance of the game after a quiet start, when Ronny Moncur’s corner kick was punched out by Freddie Godden in the City goal.
Spurs opened the scoring in the 18th minute after Feeney latched onto the end of a deflected City ball, and his left-footed shot soared past Godden.
Elliott-Parris doubled Tottenham Hotspur’s lead, after a scramble in front of the City net saw Godden keep out two attempts before the Spurs’ number nine hit the back of the net.
Chances from Pawel Kalkowski and Luke Skinner followed shortly before the break, however neither of their efforts could get past Thompson.
Boast bagged another for Spurs shortly into the second half, following a cross from Feeney, and slotted it past Godden, who had managed to get a hand to it.
The Robins piled on the pressure after Desmond Barimah’s shot on target was punted out by Thompson, before City skipper Harry Hogg fired a shot straight into the hands of the Spurs keeper.
A low shot from Boast forced Godden into a diving save towards the bottom left corner to keep out a potential fourth for Spurs, following relentless attacks from the London side.
Oliver Williams, Isaac Abbott, Trayvion Jackson, and Illan Wood replaced Skinner, Viktor Akinbo, Barimah and Derrick Ababio in a quadruple substitution at the 80th minute mark, after Excellent Ikpeama made way for Billy Amos ten minutes earlier.
City came close to pulling a goal back in the dying moments of the game, but chances from Wood and Kalkowski were denied by Thompson.
