Definitely could have been better defensively but he was unreal with the ball at feet

I can see good potential J7 replacement in him. Had a cracking game tonight.

Aye, it definitely was his best for us. Good job too because we’re thin on the ground.

Yeah. I said in the matchthread that he seems like a player who suffers when the tempo is low.
In the moments we’d speed up our play his close control would see him playing quick, one touch or two passes, pretty much all finding their man and keeping it moving quickly. But when the pace slowed down his passing became sloppier and less incisive. He’s got a range of passing and a tempo he really suits, and one he really doesn’t.
If we can play with tempo and purpose, he’ll come alive in games. If we can’t, then he’ll fade out of them. That’s my (still early) take on him as a player.

His passing was quite sloppy I thought, but when he had the ball at his feet he did very well

Unspectacular but I thought he did the hard stuff well in a hard game. Was very unconvinced by him from what I’d seen but was comforted by tonight.

It would be fantastic if he and Willock really stepped up. The midfield needs options. Tonali has looked tired, Bruno and Big Joe are injured from being worked so hard, and Miley can’t cover the whole lot alone. We need these lads to find a significant role during this stretch. They are needed.

I thought he had a really good game. He had a few poor passes, but so did everyone else in black and white tonight. I did jinx him on one of them, because I thought “wow, he’s playing really well” and then he passes the ball right to a PSG player. I’m sorry!!!

Thought him and Elanga both stepped up tonight

Thought his passing was really frustrating personally. Was doing everything right before releasing it
