Newcastle United have not risked Bruno Guimaraes for the clash at the Parc de Princes.

The Brazil star was put through his paces on the eve of the game after shaking off an ankle injury. He trained in Paris last night but is only named on the bench against Paris St-Germain.

Howe said to TNT before the game: “We had a conversation. I think he himself thought that it is possibly best for him to not start. We can’t risk him if he is not 100% fit.”

Howe made five changes to his starting XI with Woltemade, Dan Burn, Jacob Ramsey, Anthony Elanga and Joe Willock all named in the team to face PSG.

It looks like a 5-4-1 formation in essence but Howe has certainly ditched his usual 4-3-3 formation.

Nick Pope is between the posts with Lewis Miley seemingly deployed as a right wing-back and Lewis Hall on the other side with Blyth battler Burn back in contention.

Howe has opted for Jacob Ramsey in midfield while Anthony Elanga stays in the side.

Joe Willock is also handed a rare start while Jacob Murphy was only named on the bench. Burn had not started a game since the 1-0 loss to Sunderland when he punctured his lung.

Bruno has been spared for the game against Liverpool, it seems, while Joelinton missed out completely with a groin injury.
