What was the point of loaning Lucca if we’re making a marquee striker signing in the same window?
Normal club doing normal things.
Mateta had a brief spell of being the second best striker in the league, which was propped up by the brilliance of Olise, Wharton, and Glasner’s system. Outside of that spell he’s been a criminally poor finisher, he’s got a big ego, and he’s demanding huge wages.
Overextending this season, and reducing our agility in the summer window when we’re hopefully bringing in a new manager with modern methods, would be so damaging to us long-term.

Well I don’t think we need 5 strikers when we only play with 1 but hard to turn down the opportunity to sign a striker with 38 prem goals in the past 2 and a half seasons. Even this season when he’s clearly not at his best he’s still scored more than any players we currently have. Feel like some other clubs who can offer higher wages should be all over this, Man U barely have anyone you can count as a striker, Haaland could do with a backup so Marmoush can play in another position, if Abraham falls through for Villa then they should be after this and why aren’t Brighton joining in with taking the piss with offers for him like we’re doing?
