Just wanted to share some Fotmob stats on big chances created. This season and last. I also added conversion %, meaning the # of big chances that became an assist.
> A situation where a player should reasonably be expected to score, usually in a one on one scenario or from very close range when the ball has a clear path to goal and there is low to moderate pressure on the shooter. Penalties are always considered big chances.
As far as I know the is a human defined stat. Not a mathematical one generated from xG. Someone correct me if I’m wrong. So a bit of nuance here.
I would love to see some video clips of our “big chances”. If anyone knows where I could get them please comment!

I think there’s a lot that need to improve at the club by right now I think we are feeling the effects of bedding in Big Nick and Wissa.
Last season Isak was absolutely ruthless. Taking so many chances and scoring exceptionally well.
Murphy is still having a great season despite suffering from injuries. His chances created are about half of what it was last year. Just the conversation rate is much lower.

Yeah – I know he’s a rat but Isak is an elite level no9 and he made a huge difference, Wolti and Wissa aren’t in the same class in terms of movement, creating chances and finishing. Gordon’s drop off in form is clear for all to see. Other teams are wise to us now as well, and I know we’ve got a lot of games so fatigue comes into it but we’re easier to play against this year, it’s obvious in games.

Looks pretty even in terms of numbers? Considering we are just past the halfway point of the season.

Gordon’s shot conversion rate must be including penalties seeing as he’s not scored in open play, so ~30 open play shots without scoring. Yeesh.

2025/2026 doesn’t mean last season and this season. It just means this season, as it spans those 2 years from august – april/may

I feel a bit sorry for Murphy this season, he is still doing his thing and putting quality balls into dangerous areas but there is never anyone anywhere near them.

OPTA defines a big chance as:
