There is a certain kind of fan (not just on here but they are in evidence here too) who seems to be blinded by effort. That fan probably praises Yateseh to the rafters cos he "always puts in a shift" and they will probably also be there to back MGW because he "always gives 100%". Well, like Roy Keane says, so fucking what? That's their basic bread and butter job. That is the minimum expected requirement. So I am sick of fans saying "player X gives his all so get off his back." Nope. When is all this effort, which should be regular practice, going to turn into actual product? I would much rather see Morgan play five really dangerous through balls a game than have him running around like a headless twat all game and thinking that is a positive (like his manager seems to). I don't want my players being the fittest in the league RATHER THAN being able to actually string a dangerous move together. Effort, by itself, doesn't produce very much. What good is a team like ours that can run up and down all day but can't shoot for fucking toffee? Practice for shooting and not just for fitness. At the end of the day its about being able to produce.

If you’re so desperate to be sent to the Gulag you can just ask.

But seriously Yates is supposed to put a shift in, his presence and energy on the pitch is his value.

MGW on the other hand is meant to be a creative force. I wish he’d run less and produce more.
