Like most of us I'm sure, Wolves' recent form has me buzzing. I know they are almost guaranteed to go down, but I wanted to see how historic their comeback would be if they could pull it off.

I spent the weekend digging into the greatest escapes in EPL history, looking at the biggest gaps to 17th.

It actually made me slightly more hopeful! No, recovering from a 15 point gap has never been done before. 06/07 West Ham holds the record with a 10 point gap made up.

Buuuuut, they made that gap up with only 8 games remaining, which is less points per game than Wolves would need to stay up.

AND 16% of teams with a gap of 0.75-1.0 survived (Wolves would need 0.88), so it's been done before just not with as many games as we have left…

  1. I want the players and the coaches to believe and try their best

However, I can’t stand the unrealistic hopium crap here. We’re relegated. Deal with it. We’ll hopefully end on the kind of positive note that will help us bounce back up.

  2. If not for the fact that we’ve put some of our best players in the window with a for-sale sign around their necks, I might share your optimism.

    Unfortunately not.

Not wanting to burst anybodies bubble, but the run we’d need to go on would be league winning or at least champions league qualification levels of points per game

It’s just not going to happen. We’re down, but at least we can go down with a bit of pride.
