    ON THIS DAY 2020:

After a pretty forgettable game, Newcastle had held on at home against Chelsea in what looked like a stalemate.

However, in the 94th minute, with seconds remaining, a cleared corner fell to Saint-Maximin, who whipped a perfect cross in to the box, which Isaac Hayden rose to head home at the Gallowgate.

St James Park’ exploded in to noise after a much needed win put them five points clear of the relegation zone.

In the wild celebrations, Matt Ritchie did his customary kicking of the corner flag, which went sailing in to the crowd and hit a fan in the groin, to the mirth of social media.

It was a great feeling to steal a win at the death, and this match would prove to be the last time fans saw Newcastle win at home for sixteen months…

In a weird way I miss these wins. Don’t get me wrong, I have zero interest in a return to the Brucley days; but they just hit like crack when you got one over on the big boys back then.

  3. What a day that was. And I’m sure that even with multiple frustrating 0-0 draws in February, it wasn’t the last time Newcastle fans got to go to SJP to cheer on a win in 2020

    … wait, what?
