Slightly off topic but why do so many football fans have a visceral hatred for xG?
They seem to deliberately choose to not understand it and find every reason to dismiss it completely.
Just look through the comments on the BBC article, 99% of them only read the headline before angrily commenting that they hate xG as a metric, despite it being a proven indicator of future performance.
