I’ve said this a lot recently but it’s simply because we don’t pass the “eye test”.
Bar the Pokal knockout, things are going quite well, but we’ve had some mistakes lead to draws and the entire time we don’t look particularly good 3/4 matches despite getting results.
If someone watched us they wouldn’t think we’re in the top 10 of the UCL standings and 2nd in the league and that idea stays with us as fans watching 90-180 minutes a week.

Place 10 last year was diabolical

If we had not lost the lead 4 times in the 90+, we would have been on 44 points. The conversation about Kovac would have completely changed.

neat! if I continue to not watch any matches, the club might win a trophy in the next few years 😶

Kovac haters in the mud. We’re doing pretty well thanks to him. Yeah sure he has his own mistakes, and our style isn’t the prettiest. But if this isn’t a proof that he’s doing a great job then I don’t know what is.

But people still complain and say we play the worst football bla bla. We gained so many “erfolgsfans” over the years it disgusts me

To me this is a great result and Kovac and the squad deserve some praise for getting these points.
If you disagree with the result, I think you simply have too high expectations of this squad and the time it takes to implement a top tier system.
If you think the performance and system are underwhelming, to an extent I agree. However, I would like to point out two things:
1. I do not believe we are playing Kovacs preferred system with his preferred type of players. I think there was an interview not too long ago where Kovac basically said we are playing a fairly simple system in order to avoid too many changes at once. To me this is evident in how we play. Pragmatic and often times “safe” football. While this is not very fun or exciting most of the time , you can’t argue with these results, especially when you consider the squad/lack of investments in the squad.
2. Despite what I sometimes see fans say, our goals conceded, at least in the league/outside of a few games (some of which had some unlucky/individual mistakes), our defense has been very solid and more importantly the actual number of goals we concede is low!
I truly believe this is a foundation to build off of, and Kovac has earned both time and a right to get some more preferred players over a year or two. Maybe it doesn’t work out in the long run, but I can’t help but feel like this is as good of a place to build on then we’ve had maybe since before Tuchel.
Happy to hear others thoughts as long as they are respectful, heja BVB!

You can have your feelings about the methods and style of play, but the results deserve acknowledgment and praise.
Clearly, topping the table is the end goal result, but this is a positive direction.
