“West Ham are set to announce a new addition to Nuno Espirito Santo’s backroom staff,” stated Ex. “It is believed that the Spaniard Paco Jemez had had talks to join the club. Jemez (55) is an incredibly experienced manager having managed a total of 12 teams on 13 separate occasions.
He managed his last club UD Ibiza in another previous spell. He was only sacked by Ibiza on 21 October 2025, this season.
He had a successful playing career in Spain playing for the likes of Deportivo La Coruna and Zaragoza as well as winning 21 caps for Spain as a central defender appearing for his country at Euro 2000. He appears to have been brought in as an experienced manager/coach as well as being a former central defender, with a view to sort them out.
Jemez has apparently been in the building today and could be officially announced in the coming days. Apparently there has been a couple of other potential new members of staff interviewed but it isn’t clear if they will be appointed at this stage.
This could also be seen as a way of backing the manager still by allowing him to bring in his own staff despite the current league form and position.”

Really interesting appointment imo, to those unfamiliar with Paco he managed Rayo Vallencano about a decade ago and had a very interesting philosophy, no matter the opposition he would attack, attack, attack. Think Ange-ball.
He was really great there by comparison to the finances and size of the club but hasn’t found much success since managing.
I doubt Nuno is going to immediately go full on kamikaze ball but this could be a start to getting us attacking and improving our pressing.
This is what someone wrote fairly recently regarding his time at Rayo “Youngbloods dont know the legend that is Paco Jemez. Always attack. Always play beautifully.
The epitome of this was ten years ago now (shit im old). One of the most fascinating football matches in history.
Paco Jemez takes his low table Rayo side to the Bernabeu to face Ronaldo, Benzema, Bale, Kroos, Modric, Marcelo, and other living legends. In style, they come out attacking. And immediately concede. 1-0 Madrid.
Do we catch our breath and slow the game down after conceding 3 minutes into a game at the Bernabeu? Not a chance. Rayo attacks nonstop like they deserve to play Madrid off the park. 10 minutes later, they lead 1-2.
Do they take it easy and waste some time? Play a little more cautiously up a goal at the Santiago Bernabeu as huge underdogs? Of course not. They attack. Rayo has a man sent off.
Still up a goal. 10v11 with 75 minutes to play. Do they try to bunker down? Bunkering down is for cowards. Rayo attacks. Madrid score. Rayo gets another red card.
Now surely, 9v11 with 60 minutes to play. Tie game 2-2 in Madrid, you play with caution right? Obviously not.
Rayo would spend the next hour trying to make Peps Tiki Taka look like paint drying by comparison. Gorgeous free flowing football with constant attacking despite being down 2 men in Madrid.
Well, this constant attack with minimal players came at a cost. Madrid scored eight more times. 10-2.
Paco Jemez deserves a team with an audience. His style is crazy and way too much fun. Fuck pragmatism. If you wouldnt watch a match where Paco Jemez managed one of the sides over one where, say, Allegri managed one of the sides then we dont appreciate the same game. I’ll always respect this guy.”
