Liverpool are not in the running to sign highly-rated Ghana teenager Abdul Fatawu Issahaku this summer.

Reports in Ghana over the weekend claimed the Reds had stolen a march in the race to snap up the 17-year-old attacking midfielder.

It was suggested Liverpool had swooped in to take the player from Ghanaian club Steadfast FC ahead of Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen.

However, the ECHO understands the Reds are not pursuing a deal for Issahaku at present.

  1. He's signed but will be on loan for Sporting Lisbon until he's 18, then he'll be able to get a work permit more easily.

  2. Do not listen to this channel about tranfers after last year. Kept telling us we had no interest in Thiago and that’s not the first time they were wrong
