Every penny we paid for and to him was worth it for that pass in the Conference final. Be a shame for him to go, but if it gets the money in to support another signing we want/need then I think it’s worthwhile.

I think it’s probably for the best that we sell him, but even though he never recaptured the form of that first season, he did enough that year to cement his status in the club.

Apparently they’re willing to pay €40m. I’d take that, get the money in and reinvest with an eye on a good young attacking mid and centerback who would also stick around for a championship season
I don’t hate this – he’s been checked out for ages and we do need to start moving players on for next season so if the fee is decent I’d be more than willing to sell.

He isn’t going to play in the Championship and I don’t think he’s been that good this season anyway. If we are going to make a great escape, I don’t think losing him inhibits that. Sell, sell, sell.

As a neutral, it’s crazy to see this guy go from being linked to Man City to running away from a relegation battle to play in Brazil. What happened to him? Was he always just overrated?

Let him go at this point. IMO he hasn’t been at his best this season, and we don’t really need players here if there head isn’t in the right place and has already been turned.
Don’t get me wrong, he’s been a fantastic player for us and he will be missed, but would rather have a player starting who wants to be here and is willing to fight for the badge.
Looking at Summerville, he can definitely plug the gap if all his performances are like yesterdays, but not putting money on it.
The biggest silver lining is that it’s not another PL team swooping in for him
