Sounds like we are only bringing him back if we can’t get someone else in.

I don’t particularly rate Targett but at the same time we should never have let him go on loan in the first place. It left us with one recognised left back while our second choice is also our first choice right back, so it was always going to leave us thin on the ground.

While I’m not opposed to this, the club should still be targeting some defensive options. We have the finances and recruitment structure to find an adequate addition.
January is a hard window, but it can also be an opportunity to transform your season. Dubravka was a crucial signing in 2018 for a small fee.
There are players we could target that wouldn’t destroy our finances. We just need to be smart.
He’s out of contract in the summer right? So it’s not like if he stays at Boro and continues to play well we’ll get a decent transfer fee for him in the summer. If he’s leaving in 6 months anyway surely makes sense to recall him for cover.

There is fuck all wrong with a fully fit Matt targett. Never put a foot wrong for us when he was a regular on loan. Injuries and preferred players kept him having any sort of run or impact after that, can’t blame it on him
If Alex Murphy can’t cover it get rid of him and recall Targett.
We should have recalled him on January 1st, the decision should have been made two weeks ago. Literally cannot see why we wouldn’t if all the talk of not spending this window is accurate.
