Southampton have completed the signing of Birmingham City attacker Tegan McGowan on a loan deal for the remainder of the season.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Saints this evening.

The 21-year-old is a product of the Chelsea academy system. She went on to get her first experience of senior football in a spell with Charlton Athletic. The player joined Birmingham City in summer 2024 and she was a member of the Blues side that were Barclays WSL2 runners-up last term.

McGowan has built some great experience in the second tier in recent years and she will now look to help Southampton climb the table.

After joining Southampton, McGowan said “I’m very happy to be here. I’ve been around the training ground and they have got such good facilities and I’m really excited to be around the girls.

“I’m excited to play, and I hope [the fans] get to see the best of me over the next few months.

“[The south coast derby] will be such a fun way to start with the girls, and it’s a Saturday night under the lights which is my favourite type of game. I’m excited to see what it’s all about.”

McGowan is Southampton’s first signing of the January transfer window.
