      ON THIS DAY 1988:

      Palace were dumped out of the Cup by a memorable Gazza strike that rocketed into the top corner of the Gallowgate end net and hit the stanchion.

      Future Magpies boss Alan Pardew was in the Eagles side and put Palace ahead in the first half, only to see it ruled out for pushing.
