Tottenham Hotspur have now joined the race to sign a Premier League star, who has been described as “fantastic” by Thomas Frank.

Frank under increased pressure after late defeat at Bournemouth

Tottenham fell to a late defeat against AFC Bournemouth on Wednesday night, with Antoine Semenyo bagging a stoppage-time winner, and Jamie O’Hara took to X to slam the performance.

Frank caused even more controversy by being pictured drinking from an Arsenal-branded cup, although the manager has since made it clear that it was by no means deliberate.

Following the defeat, Spurs have now fallen to 14th in the Premier League table, having collected just 27 points from 21 games, while their manager’s former club, Brentford, are flying high in fifth, under the helm of Keith Andrews.

As such, according to a report from Tutto Juve (via Sport Witness), Tottenham are now looking to raid Frank’s previous club, having joined the race to sign Michael Kayode, alongside Newcastle United and Manchester City, following his impressive performances this season.

However, there could be fierce competition from some of Europe’s top clubs, with Juventus, Inter Milan and Bayern Munich also being named as potential suitors for the defender, who joined the Bees from Fiorentina for a fee of around €17.5m (£15m) and could now be worth up to £35m.

It could take a huge fee to get a deal over the line, with Brentford only willing to cash-in on Kayode if a very high offer comes their way, given that he is a key member of Andrews’ squad, starting every single Premier League game this term.

Kayode could be “fantastic” signing for Tottenham

Frank knows the right-back well, having signed him for Brentford, and he was quick to praise the former Fiorentina man after his arrival, saying: “He’s very talented and is a fantastic physical package. He’s got good ability going forward and is very good defensively.”

Indeed, the Italian likes to push forward, averaging 1.53 successful take-ons per 90 over the past year, which ranks him in the 94th percentile, when compared to other full-backs.

Spurs are shopping in South America.

Brenttford have kept three clean sheets in their last five Premier League matches, with the youngster a key component of the backline, and he certainly played his part in the 3-0 victory against Sunderland last time out, chipping in with four clearances and two interceptions.

With Pedro Porro receiving his fair share of criticism for his performances this season, it could be a wise move for Tottenham to bring in a new right-back in the current window, and at just 21-years-old, Kayode could be a fantastic long-term addition to the squad.
