Would have given him a pay bump until the end of the season, hasn’t done too bad for us

  2. This is honestly a fucking disaster, this club will be the death of me. What do we do if our two new strikers can’t adapt to a new league?

  3. We were asking a lot of our two new strikers – come into a new league, get goals, help us avoid relegation. Now we’re asking more of them if we jettison Wilson.

But I can understand – he presumably wants to play – and it’s been limited for him here, and will only be more so with the new arrivals.

I wish him well – and will forever remember him for denying Bowen and absolute worldy against Forrest. Hopefully his last hurrah will be to set up a couple tonight and get us 3 points?

  4. I suppose that’s why you don’t sign players of those types of contracts, if they have a modicum of success they’ll be on their way out. Would much prefer keeping him, and just renegotiating/extending him for another year.

Respect to Wilson he came and did the job that was asked of him despite the odds stacked against him. If he wants to play or earn more then he’s well within his right to look for the best for him.

Would we have been better off just bringing an actual, new signing in rather than another plaster over the cracks? I’d say we would’ve. Again our short-term fix approach has probably fucked us up somewhat in the long-term because neither manager wanted Wilson as the sole option he became.

A lot of us moaned when he joined and he gladly proved us wrong. Our best (only?) goal threat and we fuck him off for two unknown quantities… let’s see how that works out for us.

  6. Sad to see, its was fun seeing a striker like him play for us. Showed his class i thought, his movement for the goal against Forrest (i think) was some of the best I’ve seen a striker do for us. Been a great professional from what I’ve read. Sad to see him go, we are a real banter club.

Letting go one of our only other goalscorers other than Bowen in place of someone who has yet to kick a ball for us, the west ham way

So clear that him and Nuno have fallen out after that Steinberg article. huge shame but if he can’t play any more why not just put him in the reserves and pay him his tiny basic wage? we’re willing to do that with JWP…..

Can fully see him going to Forest or something and scoring a few goals to keep them up

    Circus

  9. A real shame, I thought he still had a lot to offer. I guess he would hardly play now, and as he is on a small incentive based contract, he would rather try to get more minutes towards his 100 club aims.

One of the very few players who has actually looked good. A fucking clown show of a club 🤡

  11. I get why he’d want to leave from his point of view, because he’s paid based on appearances/performance and we’ve just brought in two other people in his position. I don’t blame him for thinking it’s better to get out while you can.

But I’m just baffled by it from the club’s perspective. Why on Earth would we get rid of the proven backup plan before we’ve bedded the new guys in? And why would we do it *eight hours* before the most defining game of the season so far?

    Absolute madness.

We are the most frustrating club in the country.

  12. As a Leeds fan I’d take him on the same pay as you play. Be a great back up to DCL.

I totally get it from his end (especially if his contract was as incentive based as was reported), but man I would’ve loved him to help give the new guys time to get used to it.

That being said, depth-wise, striker is probably the best path for an England international to have a chance to get into the WC. I bet he has to believe he has an outside chance of being Kane’s understudy.
