Jose Maria Gimenez of Atletico Madrid was sent off for a ‘kung-fu kick’ against Athletic Bilbao on Thursday evening.
Atleti were chasing the game, having seen the Super Cup semi-final spun on its head in the second half.
With Atleti on the offensive, Gimenez attempted to hook the ball out of the air, but instead caught Iñigo Martínez on the head.
The official gave Gimenez his marching orders as the game came to a close.
