  1. If Hoppe can't get on the field for a Middlesbrough side this bad, I kind of doubt he'd even play in MLS at this point. What a strange career.

  2. Bamford is getting time because Marsh needs to sell him. More PT more money. I also feel that some of the older boys on Leeds aren't USA fans, i.e. the Manager. After the Jan transfer window Leeds will improve.

  3. I've never been a fan of Ream but it makes sense to have him in the world cup, he is a vet a leader and can easily lead Zimmerman to a solid back line really disappointed that Richards will most likely not be in the roster

  4. An idea, if you go on and do this next year, rather than "Americans abroad", do "usmnt players and probables". Every player would be interesting to hear about and the majority would be abroad. Fewer players and all would be of interest. /

  5. WC Video IDEa:
Talk about any key players around the world who will be missing the World Cup due to injury… Like im pretty sure my dude Diogo Jota wont be making the trip…whatta ya think?

  6. Tbh USMNT Abroad for me has always been about regular US players that were in Europe, in better leagues that MLS. It was about following Gio or Tyler in Bundesliga, or CP at Chelsea. Never really cared about the guys playing in Argentina, Brazil, or Mex, especially since most of them are not people we are expecting to see in many competitive USMNT matches. I know once upon a time there were not that many Americans abroad so we needed to fluff up the content with all these guys but now I’d honestly rather see more in-depth stuff about the yanks in Europe than getting a little snapshot of all the Americans in all the leagues outside MLS. Just my two cents. Either way I’ll still keep watching.

  7. Filippo, another great USMNT abroad. Three things. First I will tell you why Bamford plays — the guy KNOWs how to play the 9….except of course for this year, actually finishing. He makes great runs. He puts himself into open spaces unmarked. He does know how to combine with teammates. I think he has one of the highest xGs in the EPL to go along with his 0 goals tally.. I also think that Marsch believes, with some justification, if the guy gets off the schnide the flood gates will open. He has proven he can score in the league before his injuries. I guess we will see.

Second, as for the Leeds the roller coaster ride, the problem that HAS to be solved is defense. I expect them to make a serious run at Kai Wagner in January so Pascal Struick can move from left back to his natural center back position. Aside from Struick and Rasmus Kristensen, their defensive group is arguably NOT EPL level. Their deficiencies have been covered up by Messier, who one day will become a $75 million keeper. The big clubs will be stalking him.

Third, the brain trust has decided to go with youth on the attack — Sinisterra (now there's a kid who can score), Summerville, Gelhardt, Gnonto (who is going to get more minutes), and waiting in the wings, Sonny Perkins and Matteo Joseph who could blossom into stars. The roller coaster is possible, but it is also possible, like Arsenal last year, that Leeds could catch fire. Marsch's approach is working, though the results don't show it. And, maybe most important, the players love him and will run through the proverbial brick wall for him. Look at how much more dynamic Aaronson is at Leeds, and how much more impactful Tyler Adams is in a Leeds kit than a USA strip. What do those performances tell you? They tell you the obvious.

  8. The US sure could use some actual EXPERIENCE, AGE and LEADERSHIP on the field. Ream would be that. Long will not. Could analysis!

  9. Jesse Marsch – plays Bamford because of his link up play. He is a quality player with a beautifully deft left foot. Aaronson is a breath of fresh air and I genuinely believe a bigger club will end up coming in for him, he reminds me of Owen Hargreaves. MOT! ALAW!

  10. Hi from Leeds. England . Like your program. Bamford is a lot more than a No 9. He is a clever player, who pulls and draws defenders out of their comfort zone, creating opportunities for others….we are usually better with him than without him.
