Join Luke as he reacts to all the latest Aston Villa transfer news, Aston Villa have expressed an interest in signing West Ham midfielder Lucas Paqueta.
Completely agree – this makes no sense at all. Hopefully it’s just agent noise. We’ve spent months clearing wages and moving players on – Ramsey, Kesler-Hayden, Moreno, Dendoncker, Coutinho, Olsen, loads of youngsters out on loan, and maybe even Buendia next. We’ve even had Mings and Digne take reduced terms just to help balance things. Can’t believe we’d blow it all on a 28-year-old who’ll cost £40m+ and £150k a week with basically no resale value. At West Ham he’s only averaged about 6 goals and 4 assists a season, and didn’t get a single assist last year. His per-90 stats are actually worse than Buendia’s. If we’re gonna throw the budget and wage bill at one player, it needs to be a superstar who'll get us back in the Champions League. Otherwise, get someone cheaper and younger we can develop and sell on. Carrying on like this just digs the same hole every summer.
We need ready made. We need two players that can create something out of nothing that if they get a sniff they can put away the chance. Like when Asensio and Rashford came.

Yes we signed Rogers and now he is over 60million but we can’t keep waiting for these to come we want CL every season if possible we look at what the other top 5 have bought this season we need quality to keep up.

We have just sold Jacob for over £40 mil, the West Ham guy is a full Brazilian international that ran his last game v England, so saying he is too expensive is a bit off the mark, he’s a class player, if Emery wants him that’s good enough for me.
Don't get transfering Ramsey then signing Pacheta. The maths doesn't add up. Think I'm done with the money side of football and happy to just watch the games even if we just get mid table. Obviously PSR caught us up and time to submit to it and just watch the football. UTV
Hi we are doing what man utd have done say we got no money, BUT and it is a big butt we have not a lot but a enough, it's what they do in bisness world.
I don’t understand this one and it makes me worry where these sales are going. He was good three seasons ago and has lots of skill but the fee and wages … seriously what is the point. Why not go for our academy? Are we that scared to do that ?!
I think this is Buendias replacement and we’ll sell him next summer and we buy Asensio this summer. Paqueta and Asensio are solid CAMs for 3-4 years. Maybe £60m in total, worth it imo if we get £15-20m next year for Buendia. Hopefully we get some youth up top or on the wing next summer. Biggest question is SCR compliance I guess – we have lost like 20 players from the wage bill this summer so I think the situation is better then people think but let’s see will be a fun week I hope. Saw this a few days ago but zero chance it happens imo. Westham aren't going to let him go cheap in their current predicament.

This isn't going to happen, why would west ham sell him, especially when they are likely to face a difficult season.
