Enzo Maresca said Raheem Sterling and Axel Disasi being exiled from the Chelsea squad was a “bad feeling”, but compared the situation to the life of his 75-year-old father.

Sterling and Disasi are training away from the first team after failing to secure moves away during the summer window.

  1. Maresca is correct. His dad is tough as old leather football boots, these footballers are being paid more in one week than people earn in 10 years.

Raheem sterling £350,000 a week wages.
Over a million pounds per month.

  2. The pfa and FIFApro will get involved if Chelsea continues to do that. It's crazy when a club wants u out they can do whatever, but when a player wants to leave, it's always honor your contract

  3. Gael, the journalist who asked same question 3 times was very rude and unprofessional. Enzo handled it masterfully every time. Sky sport should teach their journalist journalism

  4. I stand with Enzo, no person whether they play for a football club or work for a football club – are not above the company they represent. I don't have any sympathy with Sterling or Disasi. They don't care what the fans or normal people have to go through outside of sport in normal day-to-day activity to get by and vice versa. Sterling refusing to take a pay cut is a sign of greed, selfishness and a complete disrespect to not just the club but the fans too.

  5. Can’t believe how some so-called fake journalists ask stupid questions just to stir drama. Players earning £300k a week—more than most people see in 10 years—yet they still get their humanity questioned. Perfect response from Maresca, cutting through the nonsense. 👏

  6. Look at this nonsense. How do you sign a player on a 6-year contract and then completely ignore him? That’s just sad. Yet the media went wild when players wanted to leave for their preferred clubs. What annoys me most is the hypocrisy of some former players. They criticized Isak and Wissa’s moves, but when it’s a club treating players this way, suddenly it’s acceptable? What kind of double standard is that?

  7. No one forced Chelsea to offer the contracts and wages that they did.
At the same time, if they wanna exclude their players which I imagine will only reduce the money they get for them at the other end, so be it

  8. Players getting paid £100000 a week whilst families are struggling to eat and have pay bills Maresca is 100% right these players are millionaires they have no right to complain.

  9. The disregard for players mental health because they get paid alot of money is staggering. Pretty sure Tyson Fury had a few million in the bank, as did Frank Bruno and God rest his soul Ricky Hatton. All had more money than most of us will ever see but it doesn't stop them from feeling negatively about life. Everything is relative to your experience.. not someone else's. Maresca point is completely irrelevant to the people involved.
