Thinking back to Bayern’s dominance in the 2010s, Javi Martínez doesn’t get nearly as much credit as Robben, Ribéry or Lewandowski. But when he arrived in 2012 he completely changed the midfield. His defensive work, versatility in dropping into center back and calmness under pressure were huge for that treble winning team.
Do you think he was Bayern’s most underrated signing of that era or would you give that title to someone like Mandžukić, Boateng or Thiago? Curious to hear how fans remember his impact.

Neither of those names listed would fit in the category underrated they were all highly praised keyplayers in their time.
I think he is universally regarded as one of our best and most important signings of the last 20 years, so he is fairly rated
Record signing, immediate impact, CL and treble winner, conditionally loved by fan base.. so the answer is no.
What a guy, id love him to return in some ways to the club, but recently watched some interview with him l, he is happy out in his hometown.
Underrated would be more fitting for a player like Dante or Rafinha
Except maybe Mandzukic, none of the names you listed is even slightly underrated wtf lol
Underrated? I don’t think so. Guy was always important and beloved.
He even made Kroos dispensable. Which was the right choice back then. (Yes I will never not die on this hill)
Hes seen as the signing that got us the treble, don’t think hes underrated imo
In the 2010s, Kimmich (2015) or Davies (2019).
At that time when they joined, who would have thought that they would become one of the best at their position. Top transfers.
Honorary mentions: Neuer and Lewandowski. Both were already established players, but at Bayern they became the best player in the world. At the time of the transfer, it wasn’t that foreseeable that they change the game or beat Müller’s record.
“Der 40 Millionen-Mann” … I remember how every commenter was calling him by his – at the time – record bundesliga transfer fee^^
Definitely not underrated. Everyone recognizes his importance
Yes
