Alphonso Davies sits down with TSN’s Kristian Jack to reflect on Canada crashing out of the Gold Cup to the hands of Haiti, what he’s learned so far from his time with Bayern Munich and his growing relationship with his Canadian coach John Herdman.

  1. Funny now, in 2020 and 5 months after this interview, hearing Alphonso say "I never pictured myself as a left back….", when he is now lighting up the Bundesliga with his left back performances, and German pundits calling him undroppable in his current form. He is just a huge talent, full stop, and could probably excel in any position except keeper.

  2. CANADA INVEST IN A YOUTH LEAGUE AND HIRE TOP CERTIFIED LEVEL COACHES. The current OPDL youth league ruiins soccer in Canada because it is too expensive to afford. Only unatheletic kids who can afford the $4000 per year price tag make the team. Most of the talented kids are developed in lesser quality leagues where they are not noticed because they can only play in specific areas of their Canadian region.. Hence why Canadian soccer is weak and we cannot compete at a high level.

  3. This is confusing for me to hear him sound like this. I know he’s Canadian but he plays for Bayern so I’m expecting him to sound German, same with Sancho

  4. Should have played for Ghana. He's never going to win anything in that below average Canadian team. With Ghana he would have a chance at winning afcon and world cup qualification.
