As a matter of principle, if Konate doesn’t sign a new deal because he’s running down his contract for a free move to Real Madrid, then we shouldn’t let him play again. Like you say, it would probably be difficult to sell him because he’s waiting for a Madrid move, so he wouldn’t just leave to go to any other team. And I know it would make more sense, in footballing terms, to play him in his final season and squeeze as much juice from the berry as possible, before begrudgingly allowing him to go to Madrid on a free, but we need to start setting an example to any other player who are thinking about doing this in the future. We need to make it clear that if you try and run your contract down, you will benched, or left out of that squad entirely. This could work as a deterrent for any future schemers who wish to try and do the same as Trent and Konate. What’s your thoughts?

Seems strange that Madrid want a player who is notorious for getting injured.
The textbook Real long game courting ritual. Set out the feelers to the player’s agent two years in advance, start rumours with one year to go, pick up for free at the end of his contract. I remember the days when tapping up a player without his club’s consent was seen as illegal. I also remember Liverpool being made to apologise and then pay the full asking price to Southampton, after getting caught doing that with Van Dijk. Real though are a law unto themselves and set their own rules.
If he doesn't want to sign sell him Liverpool are biger then the players think the players need to remember that.
Sell both of them . Don't want players who do not want to play for Liverpool. If Konate want to go, Real Madrid ask them to come and get him . If Konate want to go for free. Let him play in the U21. Liverpool made him a great player. Is this the way he wants to show his loyalty to Liverpool.

Just on the PSG link, I wouldn’t say it’s lazy. Their policy has shifted from paying mega bucks for stars, to prioritising youth with a focus on French players also. Konate is fighting with Mbappe for the national team captaincy, he’s born in Paris and alongside Saliba is the best centre half from France, he’ll be a key player in the World Cup. The idea that PSG wouldn’t be interested is unthinkable. I haven’t kept up but the last I heard Bournemouth had rejected several bids from PSG for their centre back Zabarnyi, asking for north of £70 million(which tells you they’re in the market for a centre back). If a cut price deal for Konate (because of the 1 year left) was viable, they’d have to at least explore it.
For what it’s worth I think we should sell him if possible, the continuity element is important and I’m sure Virgil would like Konate there this upcoming season but we risk others following Trent and Konate, taking us for fools and having everything on their own terms.

Hey Dunk.. Konate is an absolute beast of a player..BUT he is upgradeable and I hope the club move quickly to replace him.. Guehi is a great option but both yourself and @RedRawLFC have mentioned a number of alternatives that are available for transfer..
