Conor Coady left Liverpool as a 21-year-old, but now captains Wolves in the Premier League and has just received his first England call-up.

The former Liverpool academy captain has been speaking at an England press conference and was asked about his journey from leaving Liverpool to receiving that phone call from Gareth Southgate.

  1. First two guys asked such typical rote questions I was barely listening. Then Keany pops up with research and an insightful question tailored specifically to the player and context. I’m like, “a reporter!?” An actually good and interested sports reporter at a press conference. Want to see him at more press conferences.

  2. dopey questions would boring. Why can’t journos ask real Qs interesting Qs not these inane slap on the back armt you amazing tell us how you got to be so amazing type Qs.

  3. So glad Conor ended up at Wolves. He's a rock in the heart of defense and what a top top down to earth lad and also a fantastic captain for us. Liverpool's loss is Wolves' gain. It's good to see Liverpool back at the top of English and European football once again, good luck for the season ahead lads, but most of all thanks for Conor Coady 👍😉…
🎵They say he is a scouser,
    He's really gold and black,
    His name is Conor Coady,
He's the leader of the pack,
    The kid is fkn magic,
    He's Wanderers through and through,
He hates the fkn Albion, the Villa and the Blues,
    Allez allez allez,
    Allez allez allez…🎶🎵 😉🇬🇧

  4. I love this man. He literally played 1 game for Liverpool &, no doubt, there were times the club could have done with him (even last season). Whoever it was at Wolves that brought him to the club deserves a lap of honour. His story is heart-warming. I can only imagine the devastation of being let go by the club you supported. Many would allow depression to kick in but nope, he fought hard to stay on track. He’s a defender, on and off the pitch ❤️
