Weāve got to understand thereās a narrative about Villa having to sell and players will be questioned on it and essentially deflect as this is the answer whenever a transfer question is asked.
We have to avoid over reacting or over analyzing.
When Tielemans joined there was a big overreaction following an interview also on international duty about his playing time. It was in French, it was nothing⦠yet it turned into an attitude problem, doesnāt want to fight for his place etc. I read it in French it had nothing to do with what it was made to be.
What he gave was a nothing answer. Just a fancier way of saying "no idea mate". He's a smart lad and he gave a smart answer to a dumb question. If he's set on staying, saying that hurts his negotiating position for new contract terms. If he's set on leaving, saying that hurts his valuation by other clubs. And if the club decide to move him on, he wouldn't know that yet maybe. But what I will say, is that his answer was right in line with howEmery and Monchi always answer those kinds of questions
The definitive thing is that he is contracted to us so itās our decision to sell (I would imagine only if there is an offer of crazy money). Like he said heās happy at Villa and playing well so not like he wants to leave
He seems to be very up front to me but would not look into this too much. The key part is happy here, but like the rest of us, is probably fed up with this PSR BS, in fact it should be called BSR
I think you're exactly right Luke, I think every player has been told with PSR the club can't rule out sales… I still don't think Emi will go, and his tears might be down to my theory…
Its an interesting statement that is very similar to that of Martinez. Perhaps its a case the club have instructed players what to say on international duty. Just a thought.
Hopefully he's just putting the pressure on the board to ensure we keep progressing. He's going to want to win trophies though. I remember him coming through and he was tipped as a generational talent at that point. He lost motivation at Leicester and has begun to reach his potential at Villa but he's not gonna rest on his laurels, Villa need to demonstrate they're going to keep progressing and our constant bad handling of PSR isn't reassuring for these players.
I wouldn't read into it too much Luke, Tielemans is the first name on the team sheet, he knows it and he also knows that he'll never get the same treatment anywhere else than what he does at Villa, Douglas Luiz is the prime example of how going to a new club can go completely array.
Throwing his toys out because he didn't get another ridiculous wage increase due to Champions League qualification, the very types of wage increases that have crucified our wage bill
I feel there was A LOT riding on us getting champions league.. when that didnāt happen itās feels like itās brought āplan Bā into effect and plan b seems to be a plan we didnāt really want to have to go with.. I sense this might be a season where we have to sell more than we buy and as a result itās rocking the boat a little⦠I might be way off but thatās how it feels to me
Would you prefer him to say he's staying no matter what and suddenly go if a big money offer comes in? Remember Delph? At the end of the day, he's just left his options open. His main commitment would be to his family.
YT, totally entitles to his own voice considering the season he has had. No trophy. No CL football. With PSR as a club every single player should be put up for sale to raise funds and balance the books. Make the right moves and the squad will get better!
Well if he goes he goes disappointed with his comment but every one is replaceable wouldn't be happy definitely one of our best players last season but hey ho never get a players name on your shirt people š
Player power is too real. They have no sense of loyalty all they think about itās how far they can get their fame and glory. Any player saying such things in the past would be scolded by the club
I guess none of the players know where they stand at the moment because of the stupid PSR rule only there to protect the ābig 6ā makes my blood boil but in Unai & NSWE we trust. Theyāll do right for AVFC!!
I really hope this doesn't happen we can't keep selling our best players how are we going to get to the next level if we do that we need to build a good team. Also I have got his name on the back of my shirt
His words are being taken out of context. He was asked a question and answered it simple where in his words did he say "I'm leaving" he actually said I'm happy so why would he leave.

So fed up n flat about villa at mo.not excited bout new season.psr is screwing us and not getting champs league is a major setback
If players want to leave Villa then they can leave,no one bigger than the club ⦠Sad that players come out and say such things ā¦UTV!
All because we was one blow of a whistle ,away from champions league
If we are having PSR issues then he would be first to go as we got him on a free transfer so would be pure profit, but donāt want him to go š¢
Clearly just PSR-related. No concerns here.

ever player is replaceable especially when you have a world class manager and board however, i feel like this quote is a mis-quote
Out of all the lads that could go. He's the one I'd try to keep the most, everything we did that was good last season went through this guy!

I think you are reading too much into this comment. No need to panic.
If we sell our best players we will only go one way and it ain't up !

Heās our best player I believe
Came in on a free, so if we can get £40m then why not? He may be an important player, but nobody is irreplaceable.

Who are the others u don't want to see go? Excluding Martinez
Don't think he could say anything more or Less really
He was unreal this season. Be fucking disgusting to lose him.
Need to hold on to players like youri..our playmaker this season..
One of my favourite villa lads
Omg! No! He MUST STAY!!!! No! Just No!

So many pant wetters around
unfortunately everyone has got a pricetag and because of PSR we cannot keep players so everyone is for sale even our best playersš¢
