I was extremely impressed with his recent response when asked about his form this season. He acknowledged that he was sub par and that the team as a whole did not meet expectations.
But what I respected the most was him saying that if he needed to be the team scapegoat after poor performances he was more than willing to shoulder that burden for the sake of the team. And while it’s not nice to hear, he doesn’t let that kind of talk affect him too much, so he would rather be the target of criticism to shield the rest of the team.
It was a very mature response, and something that I would expect a captain to say. He was far from his best this is season, but he was also I need of a good rest at times in my opinion. I was happy to see him elevate his performances the last few weeks of the season as the team grew into form.

I think people are judging him too unfairly for what was ultimately a bad time for many players under Sahin. Only a few players actually excelled in his system. Even kobel did not play that well under him.

So our club has 3 players in the top 11 of that list. Great… I don’t get the voting of Can though, he was rather solid as a defender.. there should be others who were objectively worse.

I find this mildly bizarre. I mean, he had a really disappointing season, but I did not expect that much anyway.

Totally fair. Many players had problems this season, but he arguably struggled the most.
