The idea that Merino is more of a clinical finisher than Havertz is laughable. Absolute recency bias. Havertz was bagging at a good rate prior to his injury. Merino was a midfielder being played out of position in a handful of games & it worked, to a degree, in the short term. PL defenders would adapt to his presence though as aerial threats can get stifled in different ways. Havertz is a second striker in an era where teams don't play second strikers. Still levels above Merino though.

Havertz it's a good option in my opinion. You have two strikers at some point you'll have to sell one. Havertz can play a multiple of positions. You can keep him and both the striker happy.
