  1. Half of goalkeeping is decision making and while he may have a top save percentage his errors have been in part due to his flawed decisions which is something statistically less easy to present.

    Sanchez is clearly talented and there is no doubt that some of the saves he has made this year for Chelsea have been game changing or world class, however, he doesn’t inspire confidence and unfortunately that’s a big part of this position.

  2. I think when Maresca was insisting on playing out from the back that lead to mistakes, ie passing out to an oppo playee. When he seemed yo be allowed to play the gsme as he saw it he was very good. Even in those games where there were mistakes he made some brilliant saves. Start another keeper are they going to psss out well but not make the saves he would make. The SB pitch is small.

  3. His arial dominance and truly world class cross collection saves more goals then his shotstopping (compared to most goalkeepers)
