João Félix had the kind of start every kid dreams of.
Rejected by Porto, he exploded onto the scene at Benfica — his boyhood club — and became the key piece in a miraculous title comeback. From scoring against Porto to lifting the league trophy, he looked like football’s next golden boy.

Then came the big-money move, the fame, the dream girl, and everything else that made his life look like a cheesy teen sports movie.
If João’s story had ended in the summer of 2019, it would’ve been perfect.

But nearly six years later, that story feels completely different. Full of setbacks, glimpses of brilliance, and one big question mark: can João Félix still save his career?

This isn’t the first time I’ve talked about Félix. And with time, my perspective has changed.
I used to see him as a spoiled, unadaptable talent — not worth defending.
Now? I see a human being behind the player. And I think that’s the key to everything.

In this video, I break down:

What went wrong after he left Benfica

The honeymoon effect that haunts him

And how João Félix can still turn it around — beyond tactics or transfers.

Whether you’re a Benfica fan, a football romantic, or just curious about João’s journey… this video is for you.

  1. To be honest, I don't think he will never get his career back. He prefers the social media, like all Portuguese players, prefers to blame others than himself for his failures and be lazy instead of working. Unfortunately, he will not change and will probably play in a random league like Brazil and thats it

  2. It’s funny you said “the Ronaldos are the exceptions,” because when CR7 was benched for Portugal and replaced by Gonçalo Ramos, he didn’t play well when he came on. People say he has a strong mentality, but when he knew he wasn’t starting, he would sometimes leave the team. João Félix also only plays well when he feels secure, when he knows he won’t be the first one subbed off. I’m not saying CR7 and Félix are the same overall, just that in this way, they’re alike. Both play their best when they feel important and know the coach trusts them. The only way for him the have his career back is in SLB, and never leave but also like you said is manager will not "advise" him on that, and he maybe will play for Gala or any other turkish team because they have money to hire him and pay his salary because Jorge Mendes thinks that's the best for his career not Felix career xD.

  3. if he can keep up his numbers between 10-11 goals 6–8 assists i could see him become a "streets will never forget" type of player to many smaller teams in england, italy or spain but honestly if he goes to a weaker league i could see him become a legend for teams such as flamengo, braga, panathinaikos, dinamo zagreb and in general decent teams from smaller leagues that regularly play in europe or brazil he could be amazing for them and would most likely put numbers closer if not better than the ones he did for benfica

btw there are also 2 choices that could see him reving his career at a top lvl, if he joins a team managed by lopetegui (he is the one responsible for antony's revival a previously impossible task) or eintracht who can turn any decent finisher to a top scorer with ease

  4. Bro his career is done. Get into managing now young and learn.

It’s sad to say it but man, going to Madrid or leaving early at Benfica wasn’t good.

Quenda isn’t leaving right away, he’s staying another season to learn.

  5. I agree with all except two things . First the issue with atletic9 madrid, And there are comments from like 6 years that I made when it become clear that he was going A. Madrid. Felix style does not fit with simeone's normal playing system. Sure he could have had better attitude but he was not going to shine in that particular style of football, as his skillset and even physical attributes are all wrong . There is no problem with that. Lineker was a great player and had issues with the way Cruyff wanted lineker to play. Some tactical system can maximize some players, others times independently of the effort applied by a player, the performance will always be affected. The problem is if i could see that so could his agent and parents…
Then he makes another blunder, going to the worst chelsea of the last 30 years , or maybe ever, a team with a squad full of great players but where no one in that particular year was able to do … anything relevant. it was not just him in that particular chelsea, moddrick disappeared, enzo fernandez was a shadow of himself and so on. At some point it didnt matter who was playing, the end result was about the same.
In barcelona he had no excuse tho.
As for his future, and this is the second (in this case partial ) disagreement, i think a Benfica with lage and pavlidis would be a good solution, because the coach knows him very well and pavlidis does a lot of work in the front, what would provide felix with the freedom he requires in the field and the mental aspect that has been missing. Side note, i think his relation with the blonde make things worse , in fact i was once told by someone that knows him, that one of the reasons why he jumped on the atletico bandwaggon was to be relatively close to her.

  6. Lembro me de um jogo da seleção nacional em que o Flop Felix estava no banco e em vez de estar atento au jogo ele estava de volta do telemóvel. Tremenda falta de respeito pelo jogo.

  7. DONT DISRESPECT PORTUGUESE PLAYERS OVER 1 PLAYER.
GUYS LIKE NEYMAR, IBRA, HAZARD, BALOTELLI, ROBINHO AND OTHERS SHOULD HAD WAY BETTER CAREERS, AND YET U DONT BLAME ALL OF THOSE COUNTRY PLAYERS.

  8. Bro i really think we could be great again at benfica
He doesn't need to be a worldstar to be loved … But it will probably happen in any "not top tier" club
Or even imln paris FC being the face of the project for the next 7 seasons

  9. João Felix is born to be a big player in a big team , the only issue he have is his laziness. He doesn’t want to be great , he’s just happy to be there. A lot of money , playing football , watching nba and playing vidéo games at night. His life is amazing and he doesn’t want more , that’s why he is like this.

  10. There will be an heartquake in Lisbon. The future President will bring back Bernardo Silva, João Félix and Nélson Semedo to the club, with Ruben Amorim as team coach.

  11. To be honest, he would be fortunate to have Quaresma’s career. He retired at like 38 or 39 and won a European cup with Portugal and a CL as well as other trophies despite having setbacks at big clubs. Quaresma also has entire highlight reels of goals and tricks and is still viewed as being one of the more entertaining players in the last 15 years. At the rate Felix is going, he will be retired at 30 and will be seen as one of the biggest flops in history. There is talent there but he can’t run on potential anymore.

  12. His father is not from Brasil , he's born there but both Félix 's grand-parents were Portuguese . And they leaved when he ( Félix's father) was only 4 years old .
