This is not a confirmation, although this does make it weird he turned them down for us last season

Why do you think we should not got for anyone else just because our first choice rejected us, if that’s even the case. All he said is that he is friendly with PSG players… because they are also French… and they play together on the national team…

Brandt has never been given the platform to be the best player he could be. When he first joined he was competing with Reus in his main position so it was natural for him get less minutes or be forced to play out of position.
He then made the transition to play a little more like a CM, he does not have the engine for that as he grew up in more attacking roles. It was rough at first but he eventually got the hang of it (somewhat) 2 seasons ago.
The squad was plagued with shitty managers with shitty tactics that didn’t have a strong plan. Naturally someone like Brandt who was in between identities as a player would’ve struggled.
We’ve seen over the last period that with a coach that knows how to use the players we have, Brandt and others actual effectiveness (IMO notably Guirassy, Adeyemi and Groß).
Brandt should not be sold, he is a quality player.

It’s perfectly fine for a player to say that they are good mates with people outside of their own club and how they’d have chemistry if they were to share the locker room.
Me personally, I have resigned myself to the idea of not signing Cherki after we failed to sign him a second time and I was always of the opinion that I’d trust that this was simply a bad year for Brandt and instead only replace Reyna instead of replacing both Brandt and Reyna in the 10s.

A bit of context : Cherki was asked yesterday, while on the stage with the Ligue 1 team of the season during the UNFP ceremony, if he would feel good with these players (8 PSG players made it into the team) ; that is not a spontaneous statement from Cherki.
Also, OL, without a CL qualification, would be in a critical condition financially, they will have to sell and won’t be able to negotiate high prices. That might be our chance.

if he is smart and has good management behind him he will choose a team which allows him to play and make mistakes. hes still young and has all the time in the world to go to a big club like PSG. 2-3 years with us or any other “T2” team could do wonders for him but obviously thats how he answers a question like that.

There is an ongoing Cold War between Lyon’s owner and PSG’s. So I’m still hoping Rayan Cherki signs here rather than Paris.

I saw a lot of news about him, especially his links to RM, just don’t hope too much if a club like RM is involved

I honestly don’t believe he will join us this summer, the only thing that’s kind of weird to me is the persistence of rumors regarding him, if the player said he doesn’t want to anymore, wouldn’t it be clear already?

Brandt has been playing kinda ok the last couple of games so maybe it should be fine…?

By now, the chances of Cherki coming to Dortmund are approximately 5%.
