ESPN FC’s Sebastian Salazar, Craig Burley and former United States international Herculez Gomez react to comments from Argentina U-20 and U-23 coach Fernando Batista about the federation reaching out to Borussia Dortmund teenager Giovanni Reyna about switching his international allegiance away from the USMNT. The guys agree that not even a phone call from Lionel Messi could turn Reyna — whose mother, Danielle, played for the USWNT while his father, Claudio, captained the USMNT at two World Cups — but Gomez encourages Argentina to “shoot your shot” nonetheless.

There’s no way he will choose Argentina. He’s the son of a former USMNT captain. If his father was an Argentinian international I could see it happening, but not in this case.
Clickbait
What's so special about him!!!
This talk is joke, they are talking about this guy like he is Messi, Please give a break. Argentina probably has about a 1000 young player better than Gio Rayna …
😂bruhhh Argentina doesn’t need this kid…. he couldn’t even start or even play in the side like bruh
17 and already better than that flop Lozano who’s 24 and can’t even make the reserves lmao
17 and already better than that flop Lozano who’s 24 and can’t even make the reserves
Reyna is American 🇺🇸, end of
I wonder if he is cap tied by the US? If he isn't, then Argentina have a chance to cap him
Messi has other works to 😂
I hope Gregg Berhalter isn't the guy trying to figure out who is going to be playing with this kid. I hope he's gone before this kid gets picked up by USMNT. lol
He’s an idiot then
U guys are funny ask anyone in Buenos Aires who the he'll is Reyna they have no clue. Argentina is like Brazil and France, Stacked.
Never even heard of him 😭
I’m pretty sure he would stay with the US , since his father was a legend in United States , and plus Gio is not fluent with Spanish .
Rossi made that dumb mistake and I think he only played in one tournament that meant nothing to Italy or the world. Where he would have had several World cups for the US and all the endorsements that go with that.
Come on Gio come to Argentina and you will play with Messi in 2022 and with Luka Romero, Dybala and Lautaro in 2026
What are you gonna do in USA? 😂
Messi only cares about Argentina and Barca players, if Giovanni doesn't feel Argentinian, then Messi couldn't care less about him, he made his choice and he's gonna have to live with it for the rest of his career.
Well, i hope he enjoys being destroyed by Argentina every match he has to play against them lol, and i bet Argentina are gonna play more commited knowing they're playing against a guy who rejected them, that's gonna an interesting sight.
Hey ESPN the new GENERATION for Argentina is AMAZING!!! Argentina's new generation is STACKED!!! Let's see Paulo Dybala, Lautaro Martinez, Ezequiel Palacios, Cristian Pavon, Lucas Alario, Lucas Ocampos and Adolfo Gaich just to name a FEW!!! With all do respect to this kid and his family…this kid would be lucky to even make the bench on our NT the ALBICELESTE!!! He can choose the U.S. no issues cuz we DON'T NEED HIM! Peace to all at the end of the day wish health for all!
He cant even speak spanish
Bait and switch waste of time other then TAArnold eligible for USA?! Pay him that bag or whatever u have to do to get him here 😂
It's a cilickbait my friend. They know 'messi' can take us anywhere.
Reyna is argentinian he will player in argentina
I am Argentine and I think that Givani would have to play for Argentina, who has just been champions of the American Cup that is qualifying for a World Cup. In Argentina his future soccer is better than in the United States, the United States is not comparable with Argentina.
He payed his ticket to oblivion…sad but it's his choice to be irrelevant, very brave and respectfully.
I am from Argentina, and I want to Gio at USMNT. Hi is great, and has a lot to offer to the US team. I also want the US keep growing in football quality, that would be great for the world of football. But the most important thing for all the Americas Continent would be unifying Conmebol (South American football association) and Concacaf (North American football association):
1) It would create a spectacular international club competition, to rival the UEFA Champions League. It would generate a lot of investment and business for a supercharged Americas Libertadores Cup: Teams from Brazilian league, Argentinian League, Mexican League, MLS (USA) League, etc.
2) Unifying Copa America and Gold Cup in a Supercharged Copa America. A spectacular international national teams competition, similar to the 2016 Copa America, but with more teams.
3) If we don’t do this now, UEFA (European football association) will be a monopoly.
4) There would be more Americas teams in the World Cup, And the World Cup qualification would be super fun
😂😂😂😂😂 este quien lo conoce y mas si juega para estados unidos
Gio rena is Ronaldinho of today's game period
Fake news. 😆
