    Virgil van Dijk signs new Liverpool contract

    Virgil van Dijk has signed a new contract at Liverpool, which Sky Sports News understands will keep him at Anfield until the summer of 2027.

    The 33-year-old’s previous deal was due to run out at the end of the season but it is understood Liverpool’s captain’s new deal runs for an additional two years.

    The announcement comes six days after Liverpool confirmed a new deal for Mohamed Salah.

      Any sensible player will now this is the worst time to be signing for Madrid, seeing how Liv, Ars and Lille battered them in the CL and seeing Barca batter them back to back, a player like TAA with obvious defensive weakness should be avoiding that RM team.

      You overpaid massively for a 32 year-old forward, & a 33 year-old defender, while allowing a generational young talent at right-back to walk out on a free. Congrats! Looking forward to watching their form fall off a cliff next season.

      Brilliant news. I've supported Liverpool for 60 years. Ron yeats was the captain when I was a kid. The colossus . Virgil is our captain now. Giants in every aspect.

      Gives konate a couple more seasons to mature before he takes over, ive no doubt konate will be one of the best centre backs in the world when vvd leaves konate will get his apprentice

      Love TAA, hope he stays, but it's the big two. VVD and Salah are on a different level of legendary for this club. TAA would need to do it a few more years to reach the level.

      Ryan has lost his way, its been a miracle with him at 6, BUT NOW, we will 100% need a proper nunber 6 for next year. And more importantly, a proper goal scoring number 9.

      And for gods sake, an athletic Left Back. Brilliant Robbo has run his race.

      35 is nothing these days. Even 20 years ago Sami Hyypia who was a lot less mobile than Virgil was class until 35 at Liverpool. Lots of defenders have been class until nearly 40.
