Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl hailed Armel Bella-Kotchap’s defending after the centre-back’s solid performance helped his side to a 2-1 win over Chelsea.
The 20-year-old has caught the eye since his €10m move from Bochum in the off-season, and he again showed his prowess against the Champions League hopefuls.
The Saints boss said the German’s physicality and self-confidence had proven he is ‘made for the Premier League’.
Hasenhuttl said he believes the performances of Bella-Kotchap and 18-year-old Romeo Lavia, who scored the Saints’ first goal, show why the club can attract excellent young talent.
